General Employment Information
The Caravan hires approximately 25 actors, 10 technicians and 4 musicians each year for each tour of A Christmas Carol. We produce one-two ACC tours per season. We hire additional employees pending the season. We start our hiring process in February, attending various auditions/conferences and interviewing technicians, carpenters, musicians,  and child wranglers. Please look in our employment sections below to see the positions that interest you. Character descriptions for the actors/actresses are posted below as well.

Adult Actors and Actresses
The following is the character breakdown for A Christmas Carol. The casting requirements for A Christmas Carol are extremely broad. We need men and women of all ages and types and sizes. Strong singing ability is essential, as well as classical training in Shakespeare is a plus (but not mandatory). Actors should be able to speak with a turn of the century Cockney accent. All cast members should be able to ‘move well’. There is one specific dancer role (male, ballet concentration). There is also a need for adult male actors who could pass for a fourteen-year-old boy. 
If you wish to audition for the Nebraska Theatre Caravan, please send your headshot, resume, and an audition in youtube format. Your audition should include:
1. Classical monologue, any style; preferably not tragic. 
2. Contemporary monologue, straight to humorous.
3. Up-tempo song, shows range and versatility, not acapella. Selections should be one to two minutes in length. Headshots and resumes are required.

Child Actors and Actresses

LOCAL CHILDREN'S AUDITIONS FOR 2017 ARE YET TO BE DETERMINED. HOWEVER, THEY ARE NORMALLY IN LATE AUGUST.

Children auditioning should be between the ages of 8-17.  No-one should be over 5' 0". Auditionees should bring a prepared song, headshot and resume. Be prepared to read from the script. Please do NOT bring CD or tape players; please bring your sheet music; we will provide the piano player. No acapella. Auditionees should enter the backstage doors and check in at the table.


Audition appointments are required. We will take audition appointments starting August 1st, 2017

Out of town auditionees should send audition materials outlined in the adult audition package information.

Touring Road Manager
• Manage company and production while on tour. • Assist with hotel reservations prior to tour. • Plan trip routing with bus, truck drivers. • Manage company funds. • Serve as a liaison to theatre sponsors and hotels. • Prepare information for company members including a detailed road schedule. • Assist Stage Manager and Technical Director in maintaining quality of performances. Touring Stage Manager
• Run all rehearsals in Omaha. • Run show on the road, including sound cues as needed. • Assist in loading/unloading truck and set up/strike. • Assess space requirements at each venue and adapt staging and spiking. • Load ins and outs and maintenance of props. • Instruct house on sound and pit set up. • Touring experience preferred. Touring Technical Director
• Manage technical staff and production while on tour. • Oversee refurbishing of scenery in Omaha, and upkeep of set while on the road. • Call ahead for technical information from venues. • Work with Road Manager to set a load in schedule for road schedule, routing and hotel purposes. • Adapt technical elements to each venue. • Oversee load ins and load outs. • Manage company funds for technical supplies and travel expenses, etc. Salary Range: $700/wk. Touring Assistant Technical Director
• Assist loading/unloading of truck. • Assist backstage during the run of the show. • Provide general assistance in all technical areas. Salary Range: $425/wk. Per Diem: $210/wk while on the road. Touring Lighting Director
• Call ahead to venues for lighting specifications. • Interpret original lighting design and adapt to each performance space. • Oversee local crew for focus/color of pre-hung lights at each venue. • Program and operate light board for show. • Assist TD with other duties as directed. Touring Sound Technician
• Assist loading/unloading of truck and set up/strike. • Provide general assistance in all technical areas. • Work with Venues audio equipment and techs • Audio playback and wireless microphone reinforcement during performance. Touring Lead Costumer
• Responsible for pulling costumes from existing wardrobe to remount show for tour. • Responsible for assisting design staff with fittings and doing alterations. • Responsible for loading/unloading of costumes. • Maintenance, repair and laundry of all costumes & wigs. (Wig experience helpful.) • Set up dressing areas, dress show. Salary Range: $450-$500/wk. Per Diem: $210/wk. while on the road. THIS IS A TOURING PRODUCTION. WE DO NOT HIRE EQUITY. Touring General Technicians
• Assist loading/unloading of truck. • Act as one of two ‘special effects’ operators moving Scrooge’s bed. Due to bed dimensions, height/weight restrictions may apply. • Assist in maintaining set. • Assist crew as needed with setting of stage. Salary Range: $400/wk. Per Diem: $210/wk. while on the road. Chaperone/Child Wrangler
Oversee the children (three) during rehearsals and tech (parents/guardians responsible for them in off hours.) Oversee the children 24/7 while on the road, e nforce rules set by the company, e nforce rules set by each child’s parents/guardians, w ork with the children in ensuring they complete homework, and other duties in conducting life on the road, m ake sure the children adhere to the road schedule, duties as assigned backstage.
Touring Music Director
• Accompany rehearsals while in Omaha. • Maintain musical aspects of production. • Oversee three musicians. • Daily vocal warm ups. • Music notes to company as needed. • Other related duties as assigned. Touring French Horn Player
